Maturity and skills separate players. They are
all still developing, but at different speeds, so I aim to play each
player in multiple positions to expose them to different situations, we
only have eleven (11) players so many different line-ups are possible
depending on who pitches. I would like to see each player experience
playing the infield, but will take into account their ability and try to
minimize their potential for injury. I will not expose a player to the
position of pitcher or catcher if they don't demonstrate the ability.
Again, this is a safety and injury issue. If kids have a strong desire
to play a certain position, I will do my best to ensure they get that
opportunity, parents can help by practicing the physical and mental
skills for all positions with their boys.
With that said, we have five (5) returning
starters with openings everywhere but catcher and short stop. The
new players have the opportunity to play many different positions, and
win positions already occupied demonstrating more skill and fill opened
positions due to players moving up.
This would be our pre-season fielding position
prior to evaluating our new teammates.

After we have almost completed the season we have
watched many of the younger players develop into really good ball
players. Many have played more than two (2) different
positions in a game. The chart below displays different
locations that each boy has played in a
game.
