Game #10 Recap - Orioles vs. Pirates

This game featured two (2) of the top teams in the District. The Craigsville Pirates would bat 1st as the home team Orioles took the field with Jason Bradford working the hill.  The Pirates hungry for a helping of respect took the birds for three (3) runs in the first inning.  They sent eight (8) batters to the plate.  The Orioles gave up four (4) free passes and one (1) Pirate hitter would card a triple.  The Orioles would send six (6) to the plate starting off at bat with Joey Yeager who would draw a walk and later score. Matt Bennett and Jason Bradford also walked but would be left stranded on base. At the end of the 1st Inning the Orioles are behind with the Pirates leading 3 - 1.

The top of the 2nd inning would have four (4) Pirate batters come to the plate to face Jason Bradford and later Billy Rapp who would finish the inning. The Pirates would not score as the would card a walk and three (3)strike outs. The Orioles would send six (6) batters to the plate. Matt Moore would draw a walk and later score. Casey Jones and Caleb Wynee would also walk but be stranded on base. After two (2) complete innings the Orioles cut into the Pirate lead 3 - 2.

The top of the 3rd inning would have seven (7) Pirates batters come to the plate to face Billy Rapp. This inning would be pivotal for the birds as the the Pirates would get two (2) hits and card two (2) walks. Billy would strike out three (3) hitters in total and the last two (2) out with the bases loaded to hold the Pirates to one (1) run. The Orioles would even things up during the bottom of the 3rd as seven (7) Orioles batters would travel to the plate. Billy Rapp would walk and be hit around to third 3rd base by Jason bradford, Jacob Grose would also get a base hit and then Logan Cole and Dustin Lavancher would draw walks. Billy Rapp and Jason Bradford would score. The inning would end when Matt Moore would hit a line drive back to the pitcher who makes a great catch then makes a throw to 3rd base for the double play to get out of the inning. The score after three (3) complete inning would be dead even at 4 - 4.

The top of the 4nd inning would have four (4) Pirate batters come to the plate to face Billy Rapp. Billy would walk the 1st batter then strike out the very next three. The Orioles were pumped up and came back to bat for the bottom half of the 4th inning. We had four (4) batters come to the plate. After one (1) out, Casey Jones would walk and Caleb Wynne would sacrifice his body by taking a pitch to the shoulder for a free bag but each in their attempts to steal 2nd would be thrown out standing up. So after four (4) complete innings the score would remain Orioles 4 - Pirates 4.

The top of the 5nd inning would have four (4) Pirate batters come to the plate to face Billy Rapp they would score one (1) run on one (1) hit and one (1) walk. The batter with the hit would be thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double. The Orioles would come to bat behind one (1) run with the top of the order and time running out. Joey Yeager would lead off with a walk, but his attempt to steal 2nd base was also stopped short as he was the 3rd victim in the game from the cannon of the Pirates catcher. Matt Bennett would battle back from 1 ball - 2 strike count to draw a walk. Billy Rapp would come to the plate and swing at the first pitch for strike one (1), the second pitch would be a strike on the outside corner. The third pitch would also be a good one but Billy was ready as he drove a line drive into right field and past the right fielder who would chase the ball to the fence. Matt Bennett would go all the way home and score. The Pirates would throw the ball home, but the catcher would let the ball get by him and Billy would score to win the game. The game would end due to the extending past the two (2) hour game limit.

Orioles Win 6 - 5. The Orioles had three (3) hits and twelve (12) walks. The Pirates carded four (4) hits and eight (8) walks. The Orioles have two (2) game left with a current record of 10 - 0.
