Game #4 Recap - Orioles vs. Ranger

The Orioles entered the game on a season high 3 game winning streak. The Rangers were a battle tested team with a .500 record.

The Rangers batted first against Jacob Grose on the hill for the Orioles. The first batter took a pitched and lined it in the outfield for a stand up triple. He would score the only run in the inning as the next three (3) batters were put out in order; the 2nd batter with a strike out, the 3rd batter hit a grounder to pitcher, Jacob Grose who would throw the him out at first base, then the 4th batter would strike out for the third out of the inning. The Orioles came to the plate and ten (10) batters would face the Rangers this inning. Lead off batter Joey Yeager and his following partner Matt Bennett would gain free passes. Billy Rapp came up and drove a ball up the middle for a base hit. Jason Bradford in the 4th spot, Jacob Grose in the 5th spot, Matt Moore in the 7th spot, Casey Jones in the 8th Spot and Jonathon Dorsey in the 10th spot also watch balls go by to earn free passes. We would score 5 runs with one (1) out to go. After the first inning of play the Orioles held a 5 - 1 lead.

The Rangers would send five (5) batters to face Jacob Grose in the second inning where he would surrender a walk and a base hit, giving up two (2) runs before a grounder caught by Matt Bennett making play at first base would end the inning. The Orioles would come back to bat and send eight (8) more batters to the plate. Logan Cole would lead off with a free pass to first, then a two out rally would take place where Billy Rapp would get his second hit of the game, Jason Bradford would card his first hit sending Billy Home. Jacob Grose and Dustin LaVancher would follow and earn free passes before the last out. The Orioles would add two (2) more runs making the score 7 - 3 after two (2) complete innings.

The third inning would be no better for the visiting Rangers as they would only send five (5) batters to the plate. They would score two (2) runs after a lead of walk was followed by a base hit. The next three hitter would hit the ball but the Orioles defense would make the plays for consecutive outs. The Orioles would go on another scoring streak sending nine (9) batter to the plate. Eight (8) of the nine (9) batters drew free passes, one (1) drew his the hard way as Jason Bradford took a fast ball to the shin. The Orioles would score five (5) runs and only give up one (1) out and now with three (3) complete inning played the Orioles would command a 12 - 5 lead.

Jacob Grose was still manning the hill in the 4th inning and he would face five (5) Ranger batters. He would surrender one (1) run on two hits before he struck out the side. The Ranger pitching staff made a change which cooled the Orioles bats. Only four (4) Orioles batters would make a plate appearance in the fourth (4) inning. Casey Jones would draw a walk but would be tagged out on his way to 2nd on a force out as the 2nd baseman fielded a ground ball. The Orioles after four innings lead 12 - 6.

The Rangers would add one (1) more run in the fifth inning but nom ore for the game as Jacob Grose and Billy Rapp would face five (5) hitters striking out the side. The Orioles would come in and add some insurance runs scoring four (4) in the bottom of the 5th. It would start with Jonathon Dorsey and Logan Cole getting free passes, then Matt Bennett would get a base hit. Billy Rapp earned his free pass and Jacob Grose would single to send them across the plate. Jacob would be caught stealing 3rd base for the final out.

Billy Rapp came in and faced five (5) Ranger batters in the sixth inning, he struck out two (2) and caught a pop fly to end the game. The Orioles would not bat, final Score 16 - 7
