This game is a rematch of 1st game of the year. The 1st game was a thriller as the Orioles prevailed
with some spectacular defense. What a difference a approximately 45
days can make. The Orioles being the home team would take the field
first with the bird ball slinger Jacob Grose on the hill. Jacob faced six
(6) Reds batters, walking two (2) then giving up a double into left
field, he would strike out two (2) batters and catch a pop up back
to the mound to end the inning allowing two (2) runs. The Orioles would
start off at bat with Joey Yeager lying down a beautiful bunt. The
Reds scouting department had their defense prepared and Joe was
thrown out at 1st as he was one step from being safe. With one (1)
out, Matt Bennett, Billy Rapp and Jason Bradford would all make good
contact with the ball and each would card consecutive doubles. Jacob
Grose, Logan Cole, Dustin LaVancher and Matt Moore would battle the
Reds ace and earn a free pass to the base pathways. Jacob would
eventually score and the Orioles would score four (4) runs. At the
end of the 1st Inning the Orioles managed a small lead of 4 -
2.
The top of the 2nd inning would have seven (7) Reds
batters come to the plate to face Jacob Grose and later Billy Rapp
who would finish the inning. The Reds would score only one (1) run
on one (1) hit and three (3) walks leaving the bases loaded. The
Orioles would falter during their half of the inning as only four
(4) batters would approach the plate. Matt Bennett would card his
second double of the game but would be stranded on 3rd base as the
birds would not score. After two (2) complete innings the Orioles
lead has been trimmed, 4 - 3.
The top of the 3rd inning would
have eight (8) Reds batters come to the plate to face Billy Rapp and
later Matthew Bennett who would finish the inning. The reds would
score four (4) runs on two (2) hits and four (4) walks. The Orioles
would come alive during the bottom of the 3rd as Jason Bradford and
Jacob Grose would get on base with singles. The would be followed by
Logan Cole with a walk. Dustin LaVancher would connect with a ball
carding a double and being credited with two (2) RBI's, Matt Moore
will walk to load the bases back up and Caleb Wynne would hit a ball
with eyes that find it way into the outfield he would score all the
runners and be credited for a triple. The Orioles would not get to
bat anymore as the y reached the magic number of five (5) runs an
inning allowed. The score after three (3) complete inning would
remain in favor of the Orioles 9 - 7.
The top of the 4nd
inning would have six (6) Reds batters come to the plate to face
Matthew Bennett they would score one (1) run on one (1) hit and
three (3) walks. This inning showed good team work as Matt threw a
bad ball that slid past our catcher Matt Moore with a man on 3rd
base. He tried to steal home but the Matt came together and made a
great play, Matt Moore hustled to recover the ball and made a good
throw to the Matt Bennett who hustled down to the plate and made the
catch and the tag for the out. The Orioles were pumped up and came
back to bat for the bottom half of the 4th inning. We had eight
batter come to the plate. Dorsey, Yeager, Bennett, Rapp, and
Bradford would draw walks and score leaving Logan Cole at third who
also walked. Five (5) runs scored and the Orioles would lead 14 - 7
after four (4) complete innings.
The top of the 5nd inning would have five (5) Reds batters come to the plate to face Matthew Bennett and Jason Bradford they would score one (1) run on one (1) hit and two (2) walks. The Orioles would cool off and have only three (3) batters appear this inning. Dustin
LaVancher would walk and latter get tagged out trying to steal home. After five (5) complete innings the Orioles would lead 14 - 9. The Reds would send four (4) batters to the plate, the first would draw a walk but the next three would fall victim to Jason Bradford's fast ball striking out. The Orioles do not bat in the bottom half of the 6th, Orioles Win 14 - 9. The Orioles had eight (8) hits and fourteen (14) walks. The Reds carded seven (7) hits and thirteen (13) walks.
